Visitor Tips and News About Tiny Church of the Mother Road
More and more people visit every day.[Tess Kenna, 11/03/2013]
We hope not too many, or they won't be able to fit inside the self-proclaimed "World's Smallest Church."
It really is a two seater church and easy to miss. It's tucked in little plaza in between stores just a few steps from La Posada. I left a donation (or someone will take what they need).[Roadgypsy, 09/28/2013]
Officially this is just the smallest church on Route 66, but it can compete as the smallest church in America. Only 7 x 4.5 feet, it has two benches and an altar and can seat two people and a minister. Built by a family in 2012, with lumber from the historic Skylark Bar (which was torn down at this spot), in memory of Leroy Austin Kenna, a long time Route 66 businessman. Its window is from Winslow's old Mormon church.[Tess Kenna, 04/29/2012]
It looks like a tiny church that could only exist in a place that doesn't get much rain.
