Waynesboro, Virginia: Dinosaur with Hot Dog (Gone)

A fiberglass T-Rex munched a hot dog to lure hungry travelers into the Boardwalk Cafe, and then ...poof! He was history.

We're sad to say that the giant T-Rex is no longer at The Boardwalk Cafe. We had lots of folks who stopped by to see him, so we'll be sure to send an update if we acquire something else that might be RoadsideAmerica-worthy!

Dinosaur with Hot Dog

The hot dog is back. After being reported knocked out in a storm, the hot dog had returned to its rightful place in the dinosaur's mouth by October. We also stopped inside for some hot dogs ourselves. I got the Elvis, with peanut butter, banana and bacon and then got our pictures on the wall.

Dinosaur with Hot Dog

I just drove through by way of DC to North Carolina and had a great photo op with my dog and the dinosaur (as well as two delicious hot dogs.) The cafe is clean and the food is fantastic and owners were extra friendly. Apparently the hot dog that was in the dinos mouth blew out during a storm last week -- which was unfortunate for us. But the owners noted that it would be going back in soon. This place was a real gem!

Dinosaur with Hot Dog

Driving on Rt 250 in Waynesboro, VA, our attention was first captured by a huge hot dog roadside sign -- we slowed down, and were rewarded with a 15-foot high dinosaur in the parking lot of this little cafe!
