Rudolph the Red-Nosed Pumping Unit

Rudolph has been a holiday season tradition in Lufkin since 1967. It's a working oil pump jack, modified to resemble the most famous of Reindeer: Rudolph. Designed and built by Lufkin Industries, it is a tradition each year to see this icon light up the Lufkin Mall sky along with its Santa Sleigh. The pumping unit is painted red and has over 1,200 colored Christmas lights, along with the brightly lit Rudolph's nose.
