By design of the creator/owner, all of the lumber, paneling, siding -- everything wood -- in this motel came from a single Redwood tree. It doesn't look like a Redwood tree, but it's still noteworthy.

Curly Redwood Lodge
A motel made entirely of one Redwood tree. 57,000 board feet of lumber. The grain of the wood is unique as it is curly as opposed to straight. It began as just as an idea to see if it could be done. I was originally attracted to the V shape of this old-fashioned Mom and Pop motel, and its covered parking. I didn't learn about its uniqueness and rich history until after I checked in. It was a most enjoyable stay.

Built by Tom Wyllie from a single Curly Redwood tree he cut down in 1952 specifically for the purpose of building an entire motel out of it. Environmentalists probably have nightmares sleeping here.
