The museum is inside an original 1930s Civilian Conservation Corps cabin. The couple that volunteers their time to manage the museum said that it's the last remaining CCC camp, and guides describe it as one of the most complete examples of a CCC camp still remaining. There is a statue of a CCC worker in the lake park next to the park entry booth.
