Burgoo Pot - BBQ kettle

The large Burgoo pot that now sits outside of the Moonlite BBQ restaurant was built by my father, Jim (James W.) Rush. He built the plywood frame in our basement, probably in the 1970s or 1980s, and mounted it on a riding lawn mower. Harry Holder Ford auto body shop did the fiberglass skin and Maglinger's signs (Woodrow Maglinger?) painted the decoration. Dad had to design the pot frame such that he could get it out of our basement when completed. He drove it in many Owensboro parades before it was retired to sit outside the Moonlite. It is the largest BQ kettle. We use it every year during the International BQ festival here in Owensboro, KY. You should come to this event. It is in May. I believe it is the first or second weekend. Like May 11th. [Cindy Fulkerson, 04/22/2001]
