Before there was Rocky (Sylvester Stallone) there was Rocky (Rocky Marciano), heavyweight champion of the 1950s. He retired undefeated, then died in a plane crash on his birthday. In 2012 his hometown of Brockton erected a statue of Rocky, 60 years to the day after he became heavyweight champ (The statue shows him landing the knockout punch that earned him the title). It's the world's largest statue of a sports star, 24 feet tall, weighs two tons, and is made of a 21st century resin that will supposedly outlast the bronze that it was made to look like. Rocky's unveiling was attended by Mario Rendon and Victor Gutierrez, the Mexican sculptors who designed and built the statue.
