Built in 1991 as a sports arena, the "Tomb of Doom" was then abandoned. Reopened as a Bass Pro Shops in 2015 with an indoor swamp, a glass-floored observation deck, and live alligators.

We were at the pyramid this afternoon, and there was a Bass Pro truck parked nearby announcing it as a future site -- along with some construction vehicles working behind it.

America's Largest Pyramid

The pyramid curse continues! A local news report, "Pyramid Blight Concern," notes that the plan to turn the Pyramid into the world's largest Bass Pro Shop has apparently stalled (there are concerns about the structure's stability in the event of an earthquake). Weeds are growing around the Pyramid, which actually make it look more ancient and pyramid-y and worthy of a snapshot.
