Bahia Honda Key, Florida: Bahia Honda Bridge (Closed)
Railroad bridge built in 1912, converted for US 1 highway traffic in 1938 with a top deck, bypassed by a better highway in 1972. Part of the bridge connected to the state park is accessible to hikers and bikers.

Sign said "PARK CLOSED" as we drove west from Pine Key to Key West on 6/30/2019. You could see extensive work is being done on the Bahia Honda Bridge.
[Vicki Nute, 07/03/2019]Half of the park is closed due to Hurricane Irma, but the part that is open is very enjoyable. The beach near Flagler Bridge has been cleaned up, the roads are in good repair. The small nature center has a rotating slide show on the hurricane damage, then and now. Very informative!

Bahia Honda State Park is beautiful to visit. It has a great view and facilities, BBQ, campsites, and cabins.

Bahia Honda Bridge Remnants
Old railroad bridge that had an automobile bridge added above the spans. Was deactivated in 1972 but you can still walk parts of it. Access via Bahia Honda State Park.
