Visitor Tips and News About Maxwell's House of Fruit
Maxwell's House of Fruit is a trip, as well as a fruit-packing house with a wide variety of orange products. It's only a couple of blocks away from Avon Park's Main Street, with free orange juice. The most popular thing to do is to sit on one of the rocking chairs on the front porch and enjoy orange ice cream, and the most charming thing about the place is the birdhouse-size replica of the front porch that has a chair for a squirrel that eats dried corn.[Leo Griffin, 07/24/2013]
Surrounded by citrus groves, Maxwell's is the last fruit packing house in Highlands County. The Maxwell family has been in the Florida fruit business since the 1920s.
