Mollie Kathleen Gold Mine Tour
When the mine went into operation in the late 1800s, it produced gold for its owner, Mollie Kathleen. The mine was closed when it became too expensive to extract the precious metal from the ore, and it was later converted into the attraction that it is today.
Visitors are lowered in cages 1,000 feet below the surface and are taken on an hour-long tour of the mine. It's both educational and entertaining. At the end you're given a souvenir rock that's guaranteed to contain gold.
