If you drive south across the small valley from the lower end of Snake Alley, you can get a telephoto shot looking up the alley.

Today we visited Burlington, Iowa on our drive from Boring, Oregon to Charleston, South Carolina. I thought it would be great to have my wife, Pamalee, drive down Snake Alley. We maneuvered down several times...it was great!
[Ted Blakeley, 05/15/2010]I remember Snake Alley in Burlington, Iowa because as a student living in Winfield, Iowa we drove down it during driver's ed training. You could only drive downhill, as it is or at least was a one way street.
[Ted Blakeley, 05/26/2009]It is true that Snake Alley is closed to vehicular traffic, but only seasonally or for special events such as the Snake Alley Art Fair and the Snake Alley Criterium. Seasonally, Snake Alley is closed from roughly November through April to vehicles. As proof that it is open to vehiclular traffic I drove it just yesterday.
