A pair of these goliath gun boats can be found at the Square Deal Shoestore in Des Plaines (just two blocks from the McDonald's museum). Wadlow was 15 years old when they were left as partial payment for making him a new pair. These super sized slippers are size 26 and one of the guys who was there when Wadlow was in town stills works in the shop. Bonus tip: Around the corner is the ChooChoo Restaurant where your food comes out on a toy train. It's been around since the 1950s. [Peter Krampert, 05/10/1999]
