Adlai Stevenson II Resting
In the Central Illinois Regional Airport terminal there is a statue of Adlai Stevenson II resting on a bench, with his famous worn out shoes. Mr. Stevenson was IL Governor from 1949-1953. He was the Democratic Presidential Nominee losing to Dwight D. Eisenhower two times 1952 and 1956. He also served as the US representative to the United Nations from 1961-1965.
His final resting place is in Bloomington in Evergreen Cemetery.
