Marble Falls, Texas: Dead Man's Hole
The bones of at least 17 men supposedly lie at the bottom of the hole, some after they were strung up on the oak tree that hangs over it.

- I-35 exits 230 or 231. Drive west on Hwy 71 for 40 miles, then turn right onto Hwy 401/Shovel Mountain Rd (If you reach the highway interchange for US Hwy 281 you've gone 1.5 miles too far). Drive north on Shovel Mountain Rd for two miles. You'll see the unpaved road leading to the Hole on the right.

Dead Man's Hole
There aren't any signs, but the road leading to the site is called Dead Man's Hole, so once you are close it is easy enough to find. The hole is covered now by a steel plate, with a small opening in it the size of a saucer that you can see down into the blackness.
