When I was young, my family was on vacation to the western part of CT or possibly the eastern part of NY. We went to a place I think was called Time Town. It was located in and on a large hill with parking at the base. You started the tour by going inside a "spaceship"(really a round room with lots of blinking lights and movement to make it feel like you were flying. The doors opened up (on the opposite side) and you had to walk through a tunnel and an underground room that had a Mars-type landscape with Martians.
Eventually you would emerge at the top of the hill. All over the hill were large statues/figures (I remember an astronaut). There was a stairway that led down the face of the hill, past all the figures, to the parking lot.
