Danish Theme Town - Aebleskivers Birkholm's bakery gives you samples so you know what you are buying. We went to the Solvang restaurant. Food was ok. The Aebleskivers are a must-have treat. They are like pancake balls with jam and powdered sugar.
[Liz, 03/29/2013]Fun little town, especially for someone looking for a laid back day. The atmosphere is very calm. Great coffee drinks at the shop attached to the Hans Anderson museum. Looking for Dutch food? We ate at the Red Viking, and it was delicious... apart from the liver pate.

Danish Theme Town I love this town. We always have to stop to get some pastries at Mortensen's and go to the toy store.
[Kelly, 06/16/2010]My first time there. It was a very nice trip to Denmark in America. I have been to Helen, Georgia, which is done up the same way, except it is a Bavarian-style village. I liked Solvang much better. More to do there.
[Peter De Jesse, 03/26/2010]Been visiting Solvang a few times this year. Motels have windmills, shoe stores have wooden shoes and they have the greatest Danish pastries and baked goods in California (every time we go on highway 101 we stop for that). The town has a merry go round and a motorcycle museum and lots of shops selling everything and anything that is Danish. Near the last weekend of September, the town has "Danish Days" with parades, dancing and vikings on motorcycles.
