Hanauma Bay, Oahu, Hawaii: Toilet Bowl Swimming HoleIt's a pain in the butt to get to, but the reward is to float in a natural toilet bowl.
- Hanauma Bay State Park, Hanauma Bay, Oahu, HI
- Take Hwy 72/Kalanianaole Hwy east to Hanauma Bay State Park. Park in the farthest east part of the parking lot and take the trail around the east side of the bay to the Toilet Bowl (All alternate trails have been closed). It's a rough walk; wear appropriate shoes. And don't go if the lifeguards have closed the trail; floating in the Toilet Bowl can be dangerous when the surf is big.
- Daily 6 am - 7 pm, but it's smart to call ahead (Call to verify)

The trail via Hanauma Bay to the Toilet Bowl rock pool is currently "closed until further notice." According to Hanauma Bay staff, the trail is closed due to the unstable nature of the rock face along the path, and will remain so until the state conducts a survey and implements corrective measures. In other words, it's closed permanently.[David W. Dellinger, 07/11/2005]
"Toilet Bowl" still exists, it's just not at Diamond Head. It is actually at Hanauma Bay, just around the corner. It's a great place to have fun.[Moani Maertens, 06/11/2002]
