I saw your review on Thunderbeast Park. I think it's great someone is taking an interest in fixing it up. As a small child, my family lived in Oregon and that was one of the places we went to. I still have my Thunderbeast Park charm bracelet. We love it.
Remember, back then we did not have the shows such as Jurassic Park to show us what dinosaurs really looked like. There was an older couple that took care of the place and were the tour guides. It was like no other place on earth. We could run and laugh as loud as we wanted, and no one cared.
[Jamey Hetrick-Lahr, 12/01/2005]Thunderbeast Park per se is still closed, but the property has been purchased by new owners, who are using the main building for a truck accessories store. (I think they were attracted by the truck-friendly parking.) There was an article on it in the Eugene OR Register-Guard on October 7th 2001, which I clipped and then immediately misplaced, much to my shame. Basically, they're keeping an eye out for trespassers but have no plans to refurbish the statues, although they're thinking of fixing up the restaurant. They do realize they're a landmark (as do many civilians and government officials, who still use it as a landmark), and are going to put up a new big dinosaur sign for their shop out by the road. The article hinted that they were beginning to fall in love with the animals, and might start to fix them up. One can only hope they end up an attraction again, against their best intentions.
