S.S. Hurricane Camille
The S.S. Hurricane Camille Gift Shop that was recently asked about is alive and well. It stares out At the Gulf of Mexico opposite the beach on US 90 as if a massive tidal wave just plopped it there. An oblong shack that is the actual gift shop is still open for business. Here is a picture of it taken in September this year. It was the off season in Gulfport, MS but the store was still going full steam ahead.
[Steve / Back On Tack, 12/08/2001]My wife is from Gulfport and her parents and sister still live there, so we have driven by this oddity for years during the '80s and '90s. The shop itself is in a building next to the "S.S. Hurricane Camille" now landlocked on the north side of U.S. Highway 90. I'm not sure if it is still in business or not but I believe the landlocked boat is still physically there.
