I don't think "The Gargoyles" motel is still standing. Some of my co-workers were on an archaeological survey a few years back and found the burned remnants of a large commercial building. Asking around among the locals, they were told that it was the motel where "The Gargoyles" was filmed. There wasn't much left. On the plus side, it's now been registered as an archaeological site with the state of New Mexico!
[Gully Foyle, 10/19/2010]It's an old, now abandoned motel (I vaguely remember white adobe-looking buildings). It appeared in a scene in the movie "The Gargoyles" where some gargoyles jump on top of a station wagon and start clawing through the roof, while a woman inside screams. We frequented Carlsbad when I was a kid, and my twisted older brother made it a point to point out the motel everytime we passed it. I never did believe him until I saw "The Gargoyles" myself. It's been years since I've been out that way, so I don't know if it is even still standing.
