Martini-Drinking Pink Elephant

Yep - it's a pink elephant drinking a martini and wearing eyeglasses. While I felt a little strange having the kids pose for a picture in the parking lot of a package store, I'm glad to have the picture now! Next door to the elephant is a Dairy Queen, so we parked in their lot and then got food to go. Got to love Americana! [Gordon Family, 08/08/2011]

I have lived in Fortville my whole life -- since 1982. The Pink Elephant has always blessed us with its presence. It stands in front of the Wagon Wheel Liquor store on Broadway St. It is a must see attraction if you happen to be in Indiana. [Geoff Gibson, 09/09/2006]

In downtown Fortville at Broadway Liquors, there is a giant (well, life-size) elephant on a flatbed trailer. The elephant is wearing glasses and seems to be drinking a martini through its trunk. A check of the Indianapolis Zoo, some 30 miles southwest, indicates that a) they aren't missing an elephant, and b) elephant's don't drink martinis. [Kristopher Baker, 03/14/2006]

Off highway 37/67 in Fortville is a giant fiberglass elephant. He's pale pink, wears black eyeglasses, and sips from a martini glass (complete with olive no less) he grasps in his trunk. He sits outside a liquor store, and has been there for as long as I can remember (early early 80's). [Anastasia Goodpasture, 08/24/1999]
