Hartshorn, Missouri - Rebel Cave - Vague Recollections Rebel Cave is about 100 miles or more south of St. Louis, down towards the
Ozark Mountains in Missouri. It was run by this old man, who now 12 years, later is even
older, if still alive. This man had found this cave on his land and started
digging it out. He was still in the process. When you arrive there is a sign
at the entrance saying "push button". When you do
you hear this man whistling
"Dixie" he then proceeds to give an introduction. When the tape is finished,
the man himself appears because he is your guide through his cave. At
selected formations along your route, the man then pushes a button for more
recordings of himself describing the formation. I thought that this was a
very hokey place which had lots of character.
