The big pink elephant was still alive and well and drinking heavily on 7/29/2012. In the parking lot of Elite Beverages on Broadway/US 36.
[Lisa Warner, 07/29/2012]I stopped by on 7/22/12 on a trip from Fort Wayne to Carmel, and the elephant was nowhere to be found! I was definitely at the right spot. Liquor store on Broadway next to the Dairy Queen.

The pink elephant is still in good shape. The liquor store is now called "Elite Beverages." Parking in the Dairy Queen lot made us feel a little less sketchy!

I posted a picture of the elephant on Facebook after seeing it listed in the Roadside America app. My coworker then sent a photo from the '80s that she thinks they saw in Tennessee. Could there be more than one of these treasures??

Yep - it's a pink elephant drinking a martini and wearing eyeglasses. While I felt a little strange having the kids pose for a picture in the parking lot of a package store, I'm glad to have the picture now! Next door to the elephant is a Dairy Queen, so we parked in their lot and then got food to go. Got to love Americana!
