At town's POW/MIA Park, riverbank stone flood wall features a German Iron Cross made in 1943 by POWs held nearby in a camp holding 48,000 from Rommel's Afrikacorps. Park includes a chunk of Berlin Wall.

The sign reads "POWs used different size rocks to make an iron cross on the [flood control river] bank. Some Roswell citizens were incensed by this and poured five yards of concrete over the POWs' handiwork. The concrete washed away over the years...."
