Visitor Tips and News About Hubbell's Rubble
Hubbell Rubble is group of unique and interesting abstract artworks in Howard, right on Highway 99 as it goes through the edge of town. It was noon when I spied the place as I rolled past.[Gerald D Massey, 07/26/2012]
I noticed the mom/pop burger joint next door (Toot's) was doing a VERY brisk business.[Hardy, 06/03/2010]
Hubble's Rubble is a menagerie of sculptures made from farm equipment and other junk. The sculptures include Oz's Tin Man, a huge purple dino, stagecoach, tee-pee, and even Batman, among many others. The Rubble office is an old outhouse filled with news clippings. It has been featured in various travel magazines and news shows.[Lisa Townsley, 06/16/2006]
In Kansas on hwy 99 going north, east of Wichita, in the town of Howard is a fantastic collection of scrap metal "sculptures" , the tin man from Wizard of Oz, batman and his motorcycle, an outhouse tumbled by a tornado, so many more......also on Hwy 96 between hwy 99 and Augusta, are several nice sculptures.....a praying mantis attacking a fly, and an indian shooting a buffalo. These are the highpoints of my trip when I travel to Wichita on the backroads.[Sandi Edgar, 01/23/2000]
Tipster Robert Collins tells us "The 'junk' sculptures in Howard are known locally as Hubble's Rubble People."
