Houston, Texas: Big Bubble (Closed)
An unlabeled red button is set into a pillar along Buffalo Bayou waterway. Press the button, and a big bubble erupted from under the water. It was art (it also helped aerate the bayou), created by Dean Ruck in 1998. Worked for years, now broken.
- Directions:
- Northwest edge of downtown. On the south side of Preston St., just east of where its bridge crosses Buffalo Bayou. You'll see tall, artsy metal pillars on the east end of the bridge that continue south along the water. The red button is set into the second pillar.
- Status:
- Closed
