Covington, Kentucky - Notre Dame Cathedral Replica One third scale replica of the Notre Dame of Paris is located in Covington, Ky. [Richard, 01/03/2007][RA: The Roman Catholic Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption's exterior was inspired by the Paris original and is unfinished -- notice all the missing statue guys in the alcoves. (Kate Smith amends our comments: "There are gargoyles all over the top of the building.") Work started in 1894 and stopped in 1915. It's designated a "minor basilica" by the Vatican.]
Inside St. Mary's Cathedral-Basilica of the Assumption (in Covington) is the largest hand blown stained glass window in existence. It measures a whopping 24 feet by 67 feet and contains 117 distinctive figures.
