The structure is pretty cool to view from the outside, but it gates were padlocked when we arrived at 4:30 PM in January 2024, so we couldn't actually enter.

A public park has been built into the burned-out structure of a historic church.
[Veronica Triplett, 07/13/2016]Bethel Baptist Church, built in 1891, was gutted by a 2005 fire. Everything inside the walls was cleaned out, then opened as a park in 2013. The park "grass" inside the now-roofless church is actually astroturf.
