On June 11, 2004, the 16-ft. tall clown face of Tillie was removed from the Palace Amusements building, which was slated for demolition. Two Tillie the Clown paintings, overlayed with neon, had decorated the building since the late 1940s or early 1950s. The painting will be restored and Tillie will be back on display somewhere in Asbury Park at some point in the future. Also preserved for future generations -- The Bumper Car Ladies.
