This Casino was approved in 2008 by Douglas County, NV and will be finished in 2009 on Highway 395 on the north end of the county, south of Carson City.

Max Baer (Jethro) has ownership of an old closed Wal-Mart on the south end of Carson City. I guess the casino idea didn't fly in Reno. He wants to build his Beverly Hillbilly casino within this old Wal-Mart. But there are many problems! Zoning laws, the City of Carson City wanting to confiscate the property under eminent domain to stop the casino, and a super heated debate among town residents. Meanwhile, the old building just sits there looking derelict. Politics! Bah!
[John Metz, 05/25/2005]Max Baer Jr., who played Jethro in the tv series The Beverly Hillbillies, has won the approval of the Reno, Nevada, Planning Commission to build a $130 million Hillbilly-theme casino.

2009 came and went. Jethro still has no casino, but he hasn't given up trying to get one. Last we heard, he was scouting property in Sparks.
