Grave of Darren McGavin.

Darren McGavin Grave

He's in our living rooms every holiday. Who doesn't love Darren McGavin as Ralphie's dad in "A Christmas Story?"

Rosemary's Baby at Hollywood Forever.

Hollywood Forever Cemetery - Rosemary's Baby

Movie Night is highly recommended! Rosemary's Baby [was projected on the side of the mausoleum]. Bring a picnic, wine, low beach chairs, and don't forget a sweater. And take the bus! It saves hours in parking and unparking! Have fun, it's the best.

Movie Night is a popular Friday event at the cemetery.

Hollywood Forever Cemetery

Hollywood Forever Cemetery plays old movies during the summer months on the side of the [Cathedral Mausoleum]. This past September, we watched an old Hitchcock movie. There were probably 3,000 people there. Everyone brought picnic lunches, wine and beach chairs. Hitchcock's grave is right behind the [Cinespia] movie site -- there were lots of candles along it. Movie goers weren't allowed to wander the grave sites (they needed to stay off the grass until getting to the chapel lawn), but there was lots to see from the roadside. It is a beautiful cemetery, and was fun to watch movies there late at night! It felt like a tribute to the movie actors and producers who rest there.

Linda comments: "Alfred Hitchcock is not buried there; his ashes were scattered." The Cathedral Mausoleum, in where "Rudolph Valentino, Peter Lorre, Peter Finch, and Barbara La Marr, among others, are interred."

Hollywood Forever Cemetery

I used to visit this cemetery frequently to photograph the grave sights of the famous. On my last trip I was told they no longer allow photography. I tried to argue my case to the powers that be but didn't get anywhere ... I was very disappointed.
