Teton Dam Overlook

At 11:55 AM, on June 5, 1976, the earthen Teton Dam collapsed into its reservoir on the Teton River. Downstream, the city of Rexburg was flooded. 11 people and 13,000 cattle lost their lives. Total damages have been estimated at $2 billion.

[Ronnie, 09/04/2016]

The official historical sign claims 14 lives were lost after the 280 ft. deep reservoir let loose. It's a vast site of doom where the farms have long since recovered, but the collapsed dam scars remain.
