Moreauville, Louisiana: Pilot Who Vanished Chasing UFO
27-year-old Felix Moncla, his co-pilot, and their Air Force jet vanished after being scrambled to intercept a mysterious radar blip. The plaque on his graveyard memorial reads, "Disappeared Nov. 23, 1953, Intercepting a UFO over Canadian Border."

- Sacred Heart Cemetery. From Hwy 1, turn south at the stoplight onto Hwy 451. Drive a half-mile. You'll see the cemetery on the left, with a long, straight pathway of grass leading from the front to the back. The Moncla memorial is at the back end of that grass pathway, right in front of the mausoleum wall. It's a tall, black crucifix with the small UFO plaque bolted to its base.

The cemetery is next to an impressive church in a very small town, and the large crucifix above the grave is easy to spot as you walk through the cemetery. A jet was flying over as I took photos.

I wasn't expecting such a large memorial but it made it so much easier to find it! The stroll to the back of the beautiful cemetery was welcomed after a long drive!
