Ocean City, Maryland: Nanticoke the Inlet Indian

Artist Peter Toth's 20-foot-tall carved depiction of an Assateague Indian has been a shoreline fixture in Ocean City since 1976. Carved out of white oak. Restored in 2006; damaged by Superstorm Sandy in 2012; restored again in 2022.

It's at the very end of the inlet, as you drive into the main parking lot. He looks away from the ocean. A little weathered, but standing tall.
