Golden Lady: a Mom-ument
A golden goddess named "Citadel" is dedicated to the pioneer women of South Dakota. A plaque at its base quotes John Steinbeck's "The Grapes of Wrath," praising a similar woman as, "the citadel of the family." It was sculpted in 1991 by artist Dale Lamphere.[Ronnie, 01/14/2017]
25 years later Lamphere sculpted another woman, 50 feet tall, elsewhere in South Dakota.
