Onset, Massachusetts - World's Largest Thermometer Collection

I went to the Porter Thermometer Museum yesterday and saw some of his 4,100 thermometers! It was fascinating. He has earring thermometers, several foreign ones, some of them antique and some of them used by astronauts. One from Alaska reads to minus 100. Just about every animal that I can think of was in there with a thermometer attached to it. The world famous Thermometer Man (Richard Porter) is featured in Ripley�s and several other books. Onset is becoming known as the "Thermometer Capitol of the World!" His motto is, "Always open and always FREE, with over 3,000 to see!" (Maybe he should change it to over 4,000?) I found an article in today's (2-9-99) Cape Cod Journal about a retired guy who has the world's largest collection of thermometers -- 3,000 of them -- in his basement museum. It's located in Onset, MA and is on the way to Cape Cod. He says people can visit it any time, but its best to call ahead at (508) 295-5504. I go to a family place at the Cape and would like to check it out some time while en route and it sounds like other Roadside enthusiasts might like it, too. Unfortunately no street address is given.
