Nike Ajax Missiles
Sandy Hook is a sandy peninsula at the northern end of the New Jersey seashore. It is a National Recreation Area, and the home to the oldest working lighthouse in the U.S. Sandy Hook is also the home of Fort Hancock, which was an active U.S. Army base until 1974. The base, including its arsenal of Nike missiles -- two of them on launchers available for public viewing -- date to the Cold War.
