Darrow defended Evolution in the Scopes Monkey Trial and lost. William Jennings Bryan won. Bryan was rewarded with a courthouse lawn statue in 2005. Darrow had to wait until 2017.

Clarence Darrow Statue
A bronze statue of Clarence Darrow now stands on the lawn of the Scopes Trial courthouse, opposite the statue of William Jennings Bryan that was already there. The new statue was dedicated on Friday, July 14, 2017. The artist, Zenos Frudakis, was present for the unveiling.

Frudakis said he made Darrow frumpy to not "overwhelm" the Bryan statue. He previously sculpted this oddity. William Jennings Bryan won the Scopes Monkey Trial, but then died from exhaustion.
