God's Acre Healing Springs

I live about 100 miles east in Charleston, SC, and I know of people who swear by the spring water. I passed the sign on hwy 3 today and did a 180. I had to see it myself. While my wife and I were just looking into the stream that runs through there, a hawk flew up and landed 25 yards from us. Not a worry in the world did this hawk have. That was worth the stop alone. But the water is pure and tastes as good as any.

A old man was getting about 15 or 20 one-gallon jugs filled and said it is the only water he will drink. Said it comes from an aquifer from Kentucky. I don't know, but the trip was a nice drive.

The springs are off Hwy 3 as you enter Blackville. Follow the sign for Healing Spring Baptist Church, Near the little country store. The springs are getting a facelift with a new parking area and Park. The church was founded in the late 1700's and the Springs are about 150 yds south of the church.

The person who left the comment earlier about the church with the bars on the window: You were at the wrong place. I grew up in Blackville, and the picture you took was of an old, closed down Christian book store. You should have gone the other way down Hwy 3 -- three miles NORTH of Blackville. Away from town, not into town. Just a tip next time you want to go to the right place.

The springs have nothing to do with a building, etc. They are actually back in the woods. I have been there, seen them and drank the water (stood in line to get some). It's real!

I visited here based on the existing description. As you can see from the photo, not much of a "church." Looks like it used to be a Dollar General store or similar. The windows have bars on them and there are thick velvet-like curtains hanging in the windows -- makes it impossible to see inside the church.

I walked all over the property and never did find the reported spring.
