Mountain Man Statue "Daniel Boone" Type Mountain Man and Bear stand at Gokeys Trading Post. This used to be in an old Lake George area/North Hudson attraction called Frontier Town. These two fiberglass figures are now right down the road from where the "closed" Frontier Town still stands. Gokeys has a western town appearance and is a neat little store, auction house, and more.

The Davy Crockett statue was purchased by Gorky's Trading Post, which was also running the auction, and may now be seen there, across the road from the abandoned Frontier Town. I run a website dedicated to keeping the memory of Frontier Town alive - it may be accessed at http://www.frontiertown.net.
[Steve Gross, 02/22/2006]Frontier Town, a 1950s era wild west them park in upper New York State, is in its final death throes. Closed since 1998 due to failing finances and weak attendance, the property was seized in August 2004 by the county for past-due property taxes to the tune of more than $300k.

Davey Crockett at abandoned Frontier Town Although Frontier Town has been abandoned, this lone Davey Crockett stands proud over the empty parking lot. Route 9 along the eastern edge of the Adirondacks was once a tourist highway with many roadside attractions.
Across the way from this statue is a quirky old west town - petting zoo - auction house that is still in operation and busy in the summer.
