Muffler Man Muffler Man Indian is in the backyard of the Buffalo Bill trading post. [Joe Boulter, 11/18/2006]
Fort Cody Trading Post - Wild West, Freaks, Muffler Man Just in case you wanted to know, Fort Cody has a two-headed calf (fully mounted), and some big fiberglass animals: 2 buffalo, a grizzly bear, and a colt. We also have a hideous 8-ft. tall kachina that someone made out of metal. And you
can see on our web site the giant Buffalo Bill figure-sign....a
beacon on Interstate 80.
Of course, our piece-de-resistance HAS to be our Indian Muffler Man, which has a funny history. My father-in-law was in a bar in the late '60s and so was the owner of a Muffler Man-equipped gas station across from Fort Cody. They both became quite inebriated and the gas station guy told my father in law he was sick of that dang Muffler Man and wanted to get rid of it. So, my father-in-law offered him $100 and they shook hands on it.
The next morning my father-in-law got to work, and there was the Muffler Man laying in his parking lot! The gas station owner evidently THAT NIGHT drug that poor Muffler Man across Hwy 83 and dumped him in the parking lot! [Leigh Henline, 04/16/2002]
[RA: A vision of frontier safety, a treasure trove of Wild West oddities and gift items... we rest in the shadow of the big Muffler Man Indian on every trip.]Nearby Offbeat Places
