665-pound Stuffed Black Bear The record black bear has been completely refurbished and is housed in a new home across the side street from the BP/Amoco. It is awesome. The Glidden Bear I was confused with the original directions from your tips. They were backwards but we persevered. It's really mangy and funky looking. Apparently they used to drag it out for parades. The glass is so flyblown and dirty you can hardly see it. You can sort of make it out in the gloom. [Gary Carr, 12/21/2002]
665-pound Stuffed Black Bear There is a 665 pound stuffed black bear in a glass case in
the town of Glidden, Wisconsin, "Black Bear Capital of the World." It is
located one block west of State route 13. It became the world record at the
time it was killed (November 23, 1963). A great Roadside America stop for
those who are heading to Lake Superior as you can drive right up in front of
