Jack Daniel's Distillery Tour

We were greeted by Margie, our guide -- very fun, but hardly informative, answering all questions with weird little anecdotes that never applied to the questions. We were unable to see some parts of the tour due to "maintenance" but we were packed like rats in the "barrel warehouse," where the whisky is "aged" and we were able to smell the fermenting process. I think I left the warehouse with a buzz.

My favorite part about the tour was the safe that ended up being Jack Daniel's death [RA: The infamous Death Safe!]. Apparently, in a rage, Jack kicked the safe, and developed an infection in his toe that later claimed his life. The tour ended approximately in one hour, about half an hour ahead of schedule. If you are going to learn about the fermenting process or anything really in depth about the distillery, this is not your place. But if you want a strong buzz from the small confined warehouses, then this is your haven.

Lindsey and Andrea are reporting in from their "Roadwanderers" tour; they visited several RA favorites. That's Lindsey, sniffing the shoes on the Jack Daniels statue!

Jack Daniel's distillery tour

A great facility for visitors and entertaining tour of the distillery that has been making whiskey since 1868. No free samples however (by law) :(

Exhibits the floor safe that killed Jack Daniels. He kicked it in anger, then succumbed to an infection that started in his injured toe.
