Sea Shell City Sea Shell City has a new sign. It's still a great place. Coming back from up north, they even have a scenic overlook of Sea Shell City.

Man Killing Clam! This place has been virtually the same my entire life. Besides the main attraction killer clam, there is also a creepy sailor, giant parrot, and a pirate ship playset out front.

Sea Shell City I was taken to this delightful attraction by my parents when I was a very little boy on trips to Macinaw City in the late 1940s or early 1950s (am now 63), so this spot is ancient. The "man-eating clam" sign out has been out front for over 50 years. Inside there are rows and aisles of seashell trinkets and the "man-eating clam" with a pair of human legs sticking out of the rim.
It's so fake it's still a riot of fun after 50 years. I just took my 16 year old daughter there in 2007 and she laughed so hard it was crazy. Go see this place but don't expect high entertainment.
[Gary Sklar, 05/25/2008]This has got to be the site that many are thinking of. I've never actually been to it, but have past it countless number of times when going to the "UP" (the Upper Peninsula of Michigan). This kitschy site is at exit 326 on I-75, just about ten miles south of Mackinaw City and the Mackinac Bridge. Anybody travelling to Mackinac Island, the UP, Canada and Northern Wisconsin was going to pass by it (and I think most people DO pass it by). A buddy of mine who now lives in Cheboygan stopped once and said that besides the clam shell, it is basically a giftshop of sea shell knick-knacks.
