Stainless Steel Statues In addition to the George Washington statue and the missing eagle bust, there's now a Marine Corps bust and Atlas Holding the World. The marine is on the other side of the road from George Washington, and Atlas is in town. Well worth the detour off the main roads!
[Casey Blair, 09/30/2007]This sculpture was made by Tom Moran of Moran Iron Works. Tom has also created several different sculptures that are spread throughout northern Michigan. My husband does subcontract work for Tom and recently helped with his latest project.

George Washington Metal Head The George Washington Head is the work of artist Edward Moran. The incredible detail includes using steel cable to tie back George's hair.

Metal sculptures - George Washington On Highway 68 just West of Onaway, Michigan a giant bust of George Washington rests in a field watching traffic go by. He appears to be made of stainless steel. I don't know the name of the artist, but the bust was fabricated in the nearby Moran Iron Works. An even more impressive sculpture of an eagle's head can be seen in the center of Onaway itself. This one features overlaid feathers that appear to be stainless steel and brass.
