30-ft tall Kielbasa There is a 30-ft tall neon kielbasa on the Kowalski Sausage building in Hamtramck, Michigan on Holbrook St. In my travels this morning, I took the freeway and photographed the sign for you. At night, it glows -- a big wiener beacon. Hamtramck is an old, working class, ethnic city, in the middle of Detroit, home of Poles, Eastern Europeans, and a mix of many ethnic peoples,they have a great festival every Labor Day weekend where they shut down the main drag for about a mile and have food and drink booths, and live music and parades, much drinking and decadence and kielbasa consumption!
