About 30 miles north of Clear Lake is Albert Lea, MN. While this town has an above-average "pioneer museum" and bills itself as "
the birthplace of (rocker) Eddie Cochran", in fact, Mr. Cochran left for California at age 14, never to return. He was even buried in CA. Does this stop Albert Lea from putting Eddie's good name on billboards all over town? Apparently not.
