Williamstown, Massachusetts - "Eyes" Art Installation The "Eyes" art installation in Williamstown is the work of Louise Bourgeois and was installed in 2001 when she was 90 years old. As of 2009, Bourgeois is still alive and still creating work, like those really scary giant spiders (there's one outside the Kemper Museum in Kansas City, MO, and I saw one outside the Hirshhorn in DC last April.) Williamstown, Massachusetts - "Eyes" Art Installation In 2001, a sculptor was commissioned for an artwork commemorating the 75th anniversary of the Williams College Museum of Art. The resulting work, "Eyes," has become one of my favorite oddities. Disembodied, heavy-lidded eyeballs stare from the lawns of the college campus; the best time to visit is at night, as the eyes glow with an electric blue light. If you happen to be visiting Western MA, stop by and see the Eyes! [Amy Renaud-Mutart, 01/31/2003][RA: Photo added Aug. 2009.]
