A large, Dalmatian-spotted fireplug, leftover from a movie promotion, is in front of the Fire Museum of Texas. It's now the world's 3rd largest fire hydrant.

World's 3rd Largest Fire Hydrant
The field has been filled with a walkway containing memorial bricks. There is a memorial to the firefighters who lost their lives on September 11. And the entire block is surrounded by normal-sized fire hydrants painted with the Dalmation spots.
Historic Crocket Street is only two blocks away and sports some pretty good night life.
